Privacy Policy

This is a plain-language description of how MovieFate currently works, written to be genuinely accurate rather than boilerplate. It isn't legal advice — have it reviewed by a professional familiar with your target jurisdictions (e.g. GDPR, CCPA) before you rely on it for a live, monetized site.

There is no account

MovieFate doesn't ask you to sign up, log in, or provide a name, email, or any other identifying information. We don't run a user database, and there's nothing tying your visits together across devices.

What's stored on your device

MovieFate uses your browser's localStorage — not a server-side account — to remember, on your device only:

• Your current movie pool and any movies you've selected or removed
• Recent spin results, so you can see what you've already been offered
• Basic site preferences

This data never leaves your browser as part of normal use of the wheel or pools — we don't transmit it to a MovieFate server, because there isn't one collecting it. Clearing your browser data or using a different browser/device resets it.

Movie data requests (TMDB)

Movie details, search, and category listings are fetched through our own server-side API routes, which call The Movie Database (TMDB) on your behalf. Poster and backdrop images are loaded directly from TMDB's image servers by your browser, which means TMDB receives the same basic technical information (like IP address) that any image host receives when a browser requests an image. See TMDB's own privacy policy for how they handle that.

Analytics

If and when we add analytics (to understand traffic and improve the site), we'll update this section to name the specific tool, what it collects, and how to opt out. As shipped, this build does not include an analytics integration.

Advertising

MovieFate is built to support Google AdSense in designated ad slots, but those slots ship empty in this build — no ad network code runs, and no advertising cookies are set, until they're explicitly activated. Once activated, Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technology to serve and measure ads, including personalized ads where permitted. Before that happens for visitors in the EEA, UK, or other regions requiring it, this site should present a consent choice (a cookie/consent banner) rather than assume consent, and this policy should be updated to name the ad vendor(s) in use and link to their own privacy documentation.

Children's privacy

MovieFate doesn't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children, because it doesn't collect personal information at all in its current form.

Changes to this policy

If how MovieFate handles data changes — a new analytics tool, ads going live, or a future account feature — this page will be updated with a new "last updated" date above.
